Diseases like Alzheimer’s pose challenges to society at large, and the search for solutions is often measured in decades—not days. The biggest societal challenge is, of course, disease burden, with mental health costs being the largest category, even above cardiovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer or diabetes. Furthermore, mental illness will account for more than 50% of the projected economic burden over the next twenty years. With that impact in mind, now more than ever we should be asking ourselves, “What can we do today?”
